Has Microsoft sacked all there sound people as the windows vista sound are the same as windows XP ??

It's not like we're expecting the new sounds right away... they've got plenty of time yet. Since this is only a testing build, they probably kept the same sounds so we wouldn't have to re-learn each sound.

Why not install your own sounds ! There are tons of sites out there that are devoted to free WAV file downloads. There are literally, thousands of WAV files available. Download the selected files into a folder such as " WAV Files " and manually install them through the Sounds-Audio Devices in the Control Panel. Very simple ! ...............John

Channel 9 recently did a report on a recording session for the new sound themes for Vista. MS might be saving it for the release so it will still be a fresh new sound.

On the Windows Vista Product Guide says that sounds will be added at final stage.
